Numerous studies on the impact of buying from local independent businesses have found impressive results. A 2008 study of Kent County Michigan by Civic Economics projected that shifting 10% of the county's per capita spending from chain stores to locally-owned independent businesses would create "almost $140 million in new economic activity and 1,600 new jobs for the region." Shift Your Shopping promotes community awareness that every one of us can make a positive impact on the economic well-being of our community. Beyond the economic impact, Shift Your Shopping is also about celebrating the uniqueness of your local community. Shifting the focus of shopping to locally-owned independent businesses can strengthen local communities and economy, create local jobs, and allow more relaxed and rewarding shopping experiences throughout  the year.

Amesbury Treasures

is a partnership of sixteen unique historic sites, covering four centuries of Amesbury's rich history. We have free Amesbury Treasures brochures with site information, including a map, site hours, phone numbers, and websites to assist you in planning your Amesbury tour. 

We are also selling ($10) Amesbury Treasures Audio CD Tour Guide of Amesbury's History. The 60 minute CD guides you on a tour of the sixteen historic sites and all proceeds support Amesbury Treasures.
